Pseudonyms

Stephenson wrote the novels Interface (1994) and The Cobweb together with his uncle George Frederick Jewsbury. Initially they were published under the pseudonym Stephen Bury derived from both their last names. To make things more complicated Stephenson's uncle is often referred to as J. Frederick George, a pseudonym under which he published his fictional works.
